Faster external drives arriving--slowly offers an answer to a question I had a couple months ago. Would the SATA interface be used for external disk drives? I had noticed eSATA products in the computer store, my latest laptop uses the SATA interface, and the SATA interface has become more common. So, I've been wondering, what is the extent that SATA can be utilized?

It turns out that eSATA is an externalized form of SATA which is slated to replace the USB and FireWire external drives.
